The 11th edition of the festival was organized in the atmosphere of aroused sensitivity and readiness, which is a consequence of uncertainty and constant CHANGES. The first change happened at the beginning when Angelika Mizińska took over the organisation of the festival from Paulina Święcańska. With the support and based on her little experienced, she created a new concept of the festival and obtained funding from The City of Warsaw. The next challenging change came with the pandemic. Despite the extraordinary time and in response to the need for finding new communication channels, the festival team attempted to create an opportunity to dance, regardless of the difficulties caused by the global pandemic. We were all uncertain until the beginning of the festival, so we were positively surprised by what the participants, teachers and organizers had managed to create in the practice space.Through a multilayered, free exploration of movement and creativity, we strived to create a space for research and practice. While working on our adaptability and responsiveness, we listened to our intuition and looked for internal strength and creativity.
We were extremely happy that we were able to accommodate a small group of participant (only 32 plus staff) locally, however, we also adopted to the circumstances and created the possibility to meet with us online. Following the dynamically developing new trends and in order to reach those who were not able to reach us, the festival program was expanded to include activities in the Internet space. Not wanting to lose the essence of CI and trying to enable practice, we invited online participant to join in duets, trios and groups.
The number of festival participants was limited in order to maintain safety and because of the introduced regulations. We tried our best to ensure the highest possible level of safety in the practice space, but we trusted in a mutual sense of solidarity and responsibility for each other. We gave ourselves a choice and a chance to dance solo and duo, in small and at the end also bigger groups, outside and inside. Together we considered what we need to feel safe when practising and how to use CI resources in the current situation.
As always we strived to be as inclusive as possible and we made every attempt to accommodate those who approached us with accessibility needs.
